Best Wings Of Memphis

Memphis already has a pretty hot-on reputation for delicious delicacies. I mean, it’s not called the barbecue city for nothing.

And while a trip to Memphis would surely not be complete without tucking into some smoky barbecued pork and beef brisket. It’s not all that the city has to offer.

Memphis has some amazing chicken wing joints that taste so good you’ll be sure to suck the bones clean dry and then move on to swiping up any remains lingering on your plate (Also check out the Best Wings In Denver).

Whether you prefer your wings to leave you sweating, tears in your eyes, and your nose running from an insane amount of heat, or prefer the cooler sticky, and sweet wings, Memphis has you covered; and so do I (Also check out the Best Wings In Atlanta).

In this article, I’ll take you through all of the best of the best that Memphis has to offer. I’d suggest grabbing your napkins now…this is going to be a messy one.

1.Alex’s Tavern

1445 Jackson Ave, Memphis, TN 38107, (901) 278-9086

Alex’s Tavern is a long-established family business that first opened its doors back in 1953. The restaurant itself is famous for its Greek burger which has won awards, but the unsung hero is without a doubt the chicken wings.

They come in three flavors: Greek, Buffalo, and BBQ. All of which are absolutely to die for, although my personal favorite would have to be the Greek wings. The chicken is tender and the sauces really make those drummies pop!

Combine all this with the ambiance of the restaurant, especially the music pumping from the jukebox, and you have a real recipe for success.

2. All-Star Hot Wings

3111 S Perkins Rd, Memphis, TN 38118, (901) 369-0504

How do you know that a wing place is going to be good? When demand becomes so high that the chain opens three locations across the city.

And the good news, now, is that regardless of where you are staying in the city, it’s super likely that you’ll find an All-Star Hot Wings close to you.

Dry or wet wings will be the biggest decision you face here, followed by how many wings should I get? All-Star Hot wings offer portions as small as a singular wing while their largest portion size is a massive 200 wings!

Personally, I’d go for the All-Star Special! 7 tasty wings with a portion of fries and a drink. Not only that but the meal comes with carrot & celery, a roll, and a choice of ranch or bleu cheese dressing. Yum!

3. Best Wings Of Memphis

2390 Summer Ave # 102, Memphis, TN 38112, (901) 458-7711

With a name like that, you’re creating high expectations for customers from the second they step through the door. So it’s pretty important to ensure that you’re living up to the name.

You’ll be happy to hear that Best Wings Of Memphis does not disappoint.

Your whole wings will be made fresh to order, they’re tender yet crispy, and a whole lot tasty. There are 12 different flavored wings to take your pick from, though I’d recommend the fan favorite which is Lemon Pepper.

4**. Bayou Bar And Grill**

2094 Madison Ave, Memphis, TN 38104, (901) 278-8626

Bayou Bar and Grill have been serving their New Orleans-style Cajun treats to us Midtowers for at least the past three decades. And boy do they know what they are doing.

While there is tons of great-tasting food at this restaurant, tucking into one of their delicious chicken wings is completely unmatched.

_

Chicken wings here come in two different flavors: Zydeco or Original Hot. Zydeco is a tasty choice for those that don’t like too much spice, the kick is much sweeter and milder, especially compared to the exceedingly hot option.

Your milder wings will come with a cool ranch dressing and those fiery wings are served with a side of bleu cheese.

5. Ching’s Hot Wings

1264 Getwell Rd, Memphis, TN 38111, (901) 743-5545

I absolutely adore the vibe at Ching’s Hot Wings, the only thing that can really beat it is, well, the wings themselves. There is a reason that this place is a real local favorite.

The restaurant is always bustling with life and the walls are adorned with memorabilia, photos, and the like of some of the more recognizable guests that have stopped to get their chicken fix.

If you can find the space, you can even sign the wall to let the world know you were there too!

Now, onto the wings. If you have wings smothered in a tasty sauce then you couldn’t find a better place to go. Be forewarned, you’ll need a napkin or 10.

This is the kind of fingers slathered and sauce all-around-your-mouth kind of feast. The mess is just unavoidable but so worth it for those tasty wings.

6. Central BBQ

147 E Butler Ave, Memphis, TN 38103, (901) 672-7760

In Memphis, and to be honest, pretty much anywhere else, Central BBQ is renowned for being as good as it gets (Also check out the Best BBQ In Louisville).

While most of their fame can be acclaimed for their barbecue, they are also very well known for some of the best-smoked wings you’re ever going to try.

The secret is the overnight marinade and slow-cooked process which ends with a crisping dunk in the fryer. These are definitely a must-try. That’s not even an opinion, it’s just a fact. You have to try them.

They come as dry or wet options, and there are even a few different selections of rubs to choose from. But even the naked wings are chef’s kiss

Final Thoughts

And there you have it! My absolute favorite chicken places in the whole of Memphis.

Sure while you’re there you can’t really go without tasting some yummy barbecued meat, but I’m also telling you now, that you’ll so regret not devouring into these wings while you have the chance.

Don’t skip out on them.

Hi, my name is Joe Squatch and I am a serial restaurant diner. There’s nothing I love more than taking the family out to a nice restaurant that we’ve never been to before. However, since my wife is a vegan and my sons are picky eaters, we have to be mindful of where we travel to. Not all restaurants cater to the vegan diet! I’ve created my website to help you find your new favorite restaurants all over the US. But if I could offer you one piece of advice – don’t just settle for one restaurant every weekend. Try out new places – live a little! You won’t regret it.
