About the Menu

Bowls & Burritos

The Burrito & Bowls section is small but mighty, and you can choose whether you want your fillings in a crispy shell, or in a 12” fresh tortilla. Options include Steak Fajita, currently costing at least $5.49 in most states, the Chicken Fajita, currently for around $5.09, or Beef or Chicken filling for around $4.39. We have to say, these prices are incredibly reasonable but are subject to change over time and based on location.

Nachos

When it comes to the Nachos, Taco Cabana definitely doesn’t hold back with the options available, and each of these is available in both a personal and large size portion.

The options include Steak or Chicken Fajita, which are priced from about $4.49 for the personal size, and up to about $6.49 for the large portions. This favorite is served with a blend of grilled onions and peppers, 16 oz choice of beans, 16 oz rice, shredded cheese, 12 flour tortillas, shredded lettuce, sour cream, pico de gallo, and guacamole. What a taste sensation!

Quesadillas

There are similar options for the quesadillas, with Steak or Chicken Fajita options, as well as a basic cheese option too, with the prices varying from at least $3.89 to $7.09, depending on which filling and size you opt for.

Cabana Plates

The Cabana plates are a popular option amongst regulars, as they come with 2 tacos, rice, beans, guacamole, and 2 flour tortillas, which is good value for money. Depending on the option you go for, the plates tend to start at around $5.39 and range in price up to around $7.00.

Sizzling Fajitas

There’s also a range of sizzling fajitas, which includes rice, beans, tortillas, Pico De Gallo, Sour Cream, and Guacamole, and you can choose from options such as brisket, chicken, or steak fajita, which currently ranges from $11.49 to $22.99, depending on size and filling!

Sides

In terms of sides, you can choose from small, medium, or large portions of Mexican beans or rice, as well as small or large portions of Sopapillas (a type of fried pastry) too. Prices vary from around $1.19 to $2.49, depending on location.

Breakfast Combos

Taco Cabana’s breakfast options are vast, and vary from breakfast tacos, such as the insatiable Potato, Egg & Cheese, and Chorizo & Bean delights. There are also burritos and entire breakfast plates, with a variety of fillings and toppings available too, with prices starting at $1.09. And, we can’t forget the Taco Breakfast box, consisting of three Potatoes & Egg, three Chorizo & Egg, three Chorizo & Egg, three Bacon & Egg, and three Bean & Cheese.

Drinks

Depending on your state and location, drinks tend to start from around $1.29 for coffee, milk or chocolate milk, and simple orange juice, whilst vitamin water is currently around $2.49. Soft drinks currently range from $1.69 to $1.99, depending on size.

Kids Meals

Let’s not forget the kids! Taco Cabana offers three options for kids, including the Taco with refried beans and shredded cheese, wrapped in a flour tortilla, and the Cheese enchilada.

Each one comes in at a friendly price, typically below $4.00.

Nutrition

Unlike a lot of other fast-food restaurants, the food at Taco Cabana is much healthier because it isn’t required to be deep-fried at all. Therefore, the food here tends to be much healthier than your typical cheeseburger and fries. That doesn’t necessarily mean that it has fewer calories than other options, but it’s a much better option if you’re trying to lose weight.

For example, the flame-grilled chicken fajita burrito has 730 calories, and the brisket bowl has 780 calories, so they’re about the same as what your typical cheeseburger option would be.

However, there are plenty of low-calorie options available if you’re trying to cut down, including things such as the shredded chicken salad, which only has 610 calories, or if you’re looking for a low-calorie breakfast option, then the breakfast tacos are a good option. The bacon & egg tacos option only has 240 calories, and even the brisket & egg breakfast tacos only has 270 calories. So for those who are looking to cut back on calories, Taco Cabana is a great option if you’re still trying to fulfill that fast food fix!

Unfortunately for those with a gluten intolerance, Taco Cabana is going to be something you’ll need to miss out on, as all of their dishes share fryers, so nothing is truly gluten-free on the menu.

There is better news for those who are vegetarian or vegan, as some of the options can be configured to remove the meat and dairy from the dishes, and the inclusion of black beans will make for a great meat replacement where necessary, and across some Taco Cabana locations, Beyond Meat alternatives are being used to provide better options for those avoiding meat, but it depends on your location’s stock.

If you’re looking to pack a little extra protein into your diet but don’t want to miss out on the fast food goodness, then opting for some of the chicken options at Taco Cabana is a great way to do this. Most of the chicken dishes have over 30 grams of protein in them, so they should keep you nice and bulky!

Locations

Unfortunately, Taco Cabana isn’t as widespread as other fast food restaurants are, and, whilst there are 149 locations in the United States, 143 of these are located in Texas, which is about 96% of all restaurants.

Taco Cabana can be found in 57 different cities across Texas and New Mexico, so if you find yourself in this area, then you should have no issues finding your nearest Taco Cabana.

You can even get food delivered right to your door with GrubHub too!
