Smashburger

Smashburger is a fast-food hamburger restaurant that specializes in their namesake ‘smash’ burgers, cooked on a flat grill on high heat to sear the burger. They have over 200 locations across the US and Canada, where they serve a variety of different burgers with a plethora of toppings, along with french fries, sandwiches, salads, milkshakes, and chicken wings. Smashburger believes in a ‘better burger’ industry, and thus has higher quality burgers than other fast food restaurants, but is also more expensive as a consequence. That said, the price is more than reasonable for these delicious burgers!

About the Menu

Burgers

Smashburger has a wide variety of great signature burgers to choose from currently ranging from $5.29 for a Classic Smash to $7.59 for one of the various large burgers, including the recently introduced Colorado Burger.

The Classic Smash is a particularly popular burger amongst regulars to Smashburger. With 80/20 Ground Beef, WTF Sauce, Mayo, Ketchup, Yellow Mustard, American Cheese, Yellow Onion, Garlic Dill Pickles, Iceberg Lettuce, butter all inside a soft white burger bun, the flavor burst to life in your mouth.

We can’t forget the new Colorado burger, either. This fan favorite was removed from the menu but was thankfully re-introduced again recently. This long-time favorite comes with Certified Angus Beef, and is topped with melted aged cheddar, green chilies, pepper jack cheeses, tomato, lettuce, and mayo, loaded in between a spicy chipotle bun. Regular currently costs $6.59, whilst a large Colorado burger is $7.59.

If you’re really hungry, you can double up on patties, starting from under $9.00 for a Double Classic Smash, all the way up to around $14.00 for the incredible Double Smoked Bacon Brisket Smash. This is made with Certified Angus Beef patty and topped with brisket that has been smoked for around 10 hours. This is then topped with Applewood smoked bacon, pickles, smoked cheddar, and BBQ sauce inside a delectable brioche bun. Generally speaking, most doubles will set you back a square $10.00.

In the unlikely event that none of the signature burgers appeal to you, you can simply build your own custom regular or large burger for baseline costs of around $4.59 and $5.59 respectively!

Chicken

Although Smashburger specializes in beef products, they make a mean grilled or crispy chicken sandwich too, stuffed with various customer-favorite fillings found in the signature burgers, such as cheddar cheese, pickles, and tomatoes. The most basic offering, the Classic Crispy Chicken Sandwich, costs around $8.85. This consists of crispy chicken breast, tomatoes, lettuce, herb mayo (YUM), and red onions, loaded on a toasted bun. Any embellished variations are around $10.00 a pop.

Should you like the sound of some crispy chicken, but aren’t feeling the bread and extras, Smashburger has you covered with a modest chicken wing selection. Choose between BBQ, Scorchin’ Hot, and Garlic Rosemary flavors, each currently starting at $9.99 for 6 pieces.

Turkey and Salads

Not a chicken enthusiast? No problem, as you can get pretty much the exact same sandwiches with turkey in place of the chicken. Or if you’re trying to keep it nice and lean, why not help yourself to one of Smashburger’s eight quality salads starting at $5.99 for the simple stuff, including the Harvest Salad, which contains no chicken, or the Classic Cobb Salad, and Baja Cobb salad, also containing no Chicken.

With mixed greens, bleu cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon, a fried egg, tomatoes, red onions, and ranch, the Classic Cobb salad is a firm favorite with regular visitors to the restaurant. If you want some chicken on top, though, it will be an extra around $8.

Veggie Burgers

As you can see with some of the salads, vegetarians won’t go without at Smashburger. There are a number of Black Bean Veggie Burgers to choose from starting at $5.99. These are crafted to taste truly perfect. The Colorado Black bean burger, currently $6.39, contains a black bean patty, melted cheddar cheese, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, grilled Anaheim chilies, mayo, tomatoes, inside a toasted spicy chipotle bun.

There is also the Classic Black Bean Burger, currently costing $5.99. Inside is the signature black bean patty, American cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, red onions, world-famous Smash Sauce®, ketchup, and a crispy, toasted bun.

Maybe the Avocado Ranch Black Bean Burger for under $6.00 in most states, with a black bean patty, applewood smoked bacon, freshly smashed avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, ranch, and a toasted multigrain bun will do the trick! Or, you can choose the spicy jalapeño variety to spice your meal up!

You can also create your own Black Bean Burger starting at around $5.99, with fillings of your choice.

Kids Meals

As you’d expect, the kids' menu is quite limited. Little ones can choose from a Kid’s Smash, Chicken Strips, a Hot Dog, or a Grilled Cheese, all of which are currently $5.49. The Kid’s Smash is a smaller version of the Classic Smash burger, but will surely fill your little one’s belly.

Sides currently cost between $4.25 for a portion of Tots, and $5.74 for a large sweet potato fries. Standards like French fries are of course available, but if you’re up for getting a little weird, we highly recommend the Crispy Brussels Sprouts at about $5.

Starting at $1.29 for a kid’s Honest Organic Apple Juice, beverages are reasonably priced at Smashburger, but you’re looking at around $2.29 for a fancier drink such as an Honest Organic Green Tea, or Lemonade — Pssst… they also do strawberry lemonade!

While there aren’t any solid desserts available, there are a number of shakes to satisfy your sweet tooth. As well as the three classic shake flavors ($3.99), you can enjoy adventurous brand-specific options, such as the Butterfinger Shake or the Oreo Shake ($4.29). Your sweet tooth will be happy!

Nutrition

A meal comprising a Classic Smash Burger, which is 640 calories; a large side of French Fries, which is 560 calories; and a strawberry shake, which is 770 calories, comes to 1970 calories!

How long would this take to burn off? Well, it depends on the intensity and type of exercise, but generally speaking, you’re looking at about 2.5–3 hours.

For reference, the average adult male should be eating between 2,400 and 3,000 calories a day, while women should be eating between 2,000 and 2,400 calories a day to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

As you can imagine, when it comes to macronutrients, Smashburger isn’t the best. Take the Classic Smash Burger, for example. One of these signature snacks contains 14 g of saturated fat, 2 g of trans fat, 110 mg of cholesterol, 1640 mg of sodium, 41 g of carbohydrates, 10 g of dietary fiber, 3 g of sugar, and 30 g of protein.

If you have a hankering for a Smashburger, but you’re trying to eat healthily, we’d recommend opting for something like the Classic Grilled Chicken Salad that contains 8 g of saturated fat, 105 mg of cholesterol, 1120 mg of sodium, 36 g of carbohydrates, 4 g of dietary fiber, 3 g of sugar, and 34 g of protein. Though, a salad would be better.

On the other hand, if you’re not overly concerned about nutrition, you might shoot for the most decadent item on the menu, Colorado Burger, which is 770 calories — More like the _Cal_orado Burger, are we right?

When it comes to dietary requirements, their Black Bean Burgers have vegetarians covered (stay away from the fries!), but the only options for vegans are select shakes. Gluten-free options, on the other hand, are abundant if you request separate construction and cooking.

Common allergens found across the Smashburger menu include, soy, milk, eggs, celery, oats, barley, mustard, and wheat.

Smashburger Locations

Smashburger has 227 locations, 220 of which are spread across the US, the remaining 7 being in Canada.

States lucky enough to have a Smashburger presence include, Alaska, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Minnesota, North Caroline, Washington, Kansas, Louisiana, Colorado, Michigan, Texas, Illinois, New York, Oklahoma, Maryland, South Carolina, Florida, Virginia, New Jersey, Arkansas, California, Rhode Island, Missouri, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Washington DC, Utah, North Dakota, Nevada, Ohio, and Iowa.

Each of these states has at least one Smashburger restaurant in their capital city, likely with more spread across the State’s major cities, and although Smashburger don’t do deliveries themselves, they are partnered with Grubhub, so you can place your order and wait for it to be brought to you like the royalty you are!
